Messaging channels let your custom agents communicate outside Kolmena. Once connected, an agent can read and reply to messages on Telegram, Discord, or X/Twitter directly. You manage channels from an agent’s Configure tab, under Channels. Each channel shows its status: Connected, Needs Setup, or Not Connected.

Telegram

Connecting Telegram lets your agent respond in chats through a bot.
1

Open the Telegram channel card

In your agent’s Configure > Channels section, find Telegram and click Connect.
2

Link your Telegram account

Kolmena prompts you to link your own Telegram account first. This ensures the agent recognizes you as its owner. Click Link Telegram account, open the link in Telegram, and press Start.
3

Verify the link

Return to Kolmena and click I pressed Start to confirm the connection.
4

Save the channel settings

The bot token and allowed chats are managed through the channel configuration. Save to activate the connection.
If you do not link your Telegram account, the agent will not answer anyone until you manually add chat IDs to the allowed chats list.

Discord

Connecting Discord requires a bot token and two steps inside the Discord Developer Portal.
1

Open the Discord channel card

In your agent’s Configure > Channels section, find Discord and click Connect.
2

Enter your bot token

Provide the Discord API token for your bot. This is stored securely by Kolmena.
3

Enable privileged intents in Discord

In the Discord Developer Portal, go to your bot’s settings and enable Presence, Server Members, and Message Content under Privileged Gateway Intents. Without these, Discord refuses the connection.
4

Invite the bot to a server

After saving the token, Kolmena provides an invite link. Click it to add the bot to a Discord server. Until you do this, the bot is online but sees no messages.
Disconnecting a Discord bot in Kolmena deletes the stored token, but the bot stays connected to Discord until the agent restarts.

X/Twitter

Connecting X/Twitter lets your agent post or respond on the platform.
1

Open the X/Twitter channel card

In your agent’s Configure > Channels section, find X/Twitter and click Connect.
2

Provide API credentials

Enter your Twitter API key, API secret key, access token, and access token secret. These credentials authenticate the agent to act on your account.
3

Save and activate

Save the configuration. The channel status changes to Connected once the credentials are validated.

Managing connected channels

For any connected channel, click Settings on the card to update credentials or options. Click Disconnect to remove the channel. For binding-backed channels (Telegram, Discord, X/Twitter), disconnecting removes the stored credentials and the agent stops receiving or sending messages after its next restart.
