# Handle Interaction Requests from Your Agents

> Learn how to answer, decline, and manage interaction requests from agents. Handle credential requests and understand request statuses like withdrawn or timed out.

When an agent needs your input to keep working, it sends an **interaction request**. These requests appear in your chat thread and ask you to answer a question, make a choice, or provide a credential. Responding keeps the agent moving; ignoring it can pause the task.

## Types of Interaction Requests

Agents send requests for a few common reasons:

| Request type | What it means |
| - | - |
| **Question** | The agent needs clarification or a decision before it can continue. |
| **Form** | The agent is collecting several pieces of information and shows which fields are still needed. |
| **Credential** | The agent needs an API key, token, or password to call a service on your behalf. |

## Answer a Request

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the request">
    In the chat thread, the agent's message will show the question or form. Read it carefully.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Type or select your answer">
    For text questions, type your response and click **Send**. For multiple choice, select the option that fits, or pick **Something else** to explain manually.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Submit or skip">
    Click **Done** when finished, or **Skip** if you want the agent to move on without that answer.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  Use the arrow keys to navigate between options and Enter to select. This works for quick multiple-choice responses.
</Tip>

## Decline or Dismiss a Request

If you do not want to answer, you have options:

* **Skip** tells the agent to proceed without the missing information.
* **Dismiss these questions** removes the current batch of requests from the thread.
* **Decline** marks the request as declined, which the agent can see in its status.

## Request Statuses

Each interaction request has a status so you can see what happened:

| Status | Meaning |
| - | - |
| **Answered** | You responded and the agent received it. |
| **Declined** | You chose not to answer. |
| **Withdrawn** | The agent canceled the request, often because it found another way forward or no longer needs the input. |
| **Timed out** | The request expired because it was not answered within the allowed window. |
| **Closed** | The request was resolved or superseded by another event. |

## Handle Credential Requests

When an agent needs access to a service, it may ask for your key or token.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Review the request">
    The agent names the service it needs access to. Check that you recognize the service.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Paste or reuse a saved key">
    Type or paste your key into the field. If you already saved a credential for that service, you can choose **Use your saved key** instead.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save to Credentials (optional)">
    Click **Save to Credentials** to store the key securely for future use. The key is encrypted the moment you send it and never shown again in chat.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send">
    Click **Send** to grant access. The agent can now call the service on your behalf.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  Saving a credential replaces the saved key for every agent that uses that service. If you want to keep the old key for other agents, choose **Keep saved key** instead.
</Warning>

<Note>
  You can revoke any saved credential at any time from the [Credentials](/integrations/credentials) page. The agent will stop receiving it immediately.
</Note>
